Haydn believes that art is much more than just what you see on a canvas. “Art is not just about colour, it’s also an expression of your own life. You live and breathe it, and it’s everywhere!”
Art can take many forms. For Haydn, art is not just about visual beauty, but also an expression of who you are.

In 2016 Haydn Porter moved away from his comfort zone to take on the prestigious Archibald Prize.
The judges were looking for a work that captures the essence of both the artist and their subject.
Haydn Porter has submitted his piece Powerful DNA.
“It’s the first time I have ever done a self-portrait,” says Haydn. He went on to say “This was a new experience for me but I enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to doing more self-portraits! In it I’ve used human DNA, I’ve added bits of human hair and my own hair too. I do that with all of my pieces, like a signature, so down the road, people will know that’s a Porter.”
A lot of people are unaware of the meaning behind trees. They have always been a source of inspiration for me, as trees are closely related to the creation of the universe. The roots are a representation of the underworld, where all things are born from death.
Trees are powerful symbols for many cultures, and I always find myself captivated by their strength to survive anything the world throws at them. In a world where we are constantly being challenged by the growing effects of climate change, it is important to remember trees and the importance they have in our lives. The Tree of Life is often used as a symbol of life (among many other things). Its roots are deep, spreading through the world and its trunk is thick.
Haydn has done a fabulous collection of tree art, and you can see the beauty in each piece of art.
There are a lot of ups and downs in life but I turn them all to my advantage. Some of my best pieces come from when things are bad, for example when it’s raining or I’m feeling down about something.
When I feel like I can’t verbalise what I’m feeling, art is the only way to get my mental thoughts and emotions out. As a result, my art always has a personal touch to it.
It’s a little know fact that Humans have been producing art for 65,000 years. Artists from all cultures and time periods have created unique artworks that live on today. And, every artist deserves appreciation for their work.
When I think back, there are moments where it feels great that I have managed to transform the way people see paintings. More than anything else, it’s been because of my own unique style and how this has influenced individuals and businesses. The energy that I produce with my paintings is what connects people.
